The founder of Maloney Law & Associates, PLLC, Meg Maloney serves clients in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the surrounding areas. She focuses her practice on employment law and her services include the following: representation in general litigation on employment issues, advice on incentive and severance plans, executive counseling, training and support for state and federal compliance of labor law, creation of employment-related agreements, counsel during company changes related to employment law, wage and hour violations, representation in whistleblower and discrimination cases, and representation in employment contract disputes.
In 1982, Ms. Maloney received a Bachelor of Science in philosophy from Northwestern University, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She attended Duke University School of Law, and during her studies she was the winner of the school’s moot court competition. In 1985, Ms. Maloney graduated with her Juris Doctor.
For over 15 years, Ms. Maloney has worked with corporations, assisting them with their employment law matters and now works primarily with employees. She has been named one of the legal elite employment law attorneys in the state of North Carolina and honored as one of the best lawyers among her peers. The Mecklenburg County Bar presented her with its pro bono award, and she was honored as one of the 50 most influential women by The Mecklenburg Times in 2012 and Leaders in the Law by Lawyers Weekly in 2015.
Involvement in the legal and local community is important to Ms. Maloney. She is a member of the Mecklenburg County Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the American Bar Association, Women Executives, Charlotte Women Attorneys, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. Ms. Maloney served as president and board member of the Legal Services of Southern Piedmont and has held positions on boards and committees for various organizations. She has represented both the Charlotte and Union County Humane Societies on a variety of matters, and has handled cases to terminate ownership of persons who abuse or neglect animals in their care. She is a committed supporter of the arts and Charlotte Ballet.
